Genie GS-1930 vs JLG 1930ES

Both are 19 ft electric slab scissor lifts built for the same work: ceiling grid, lighting, electrical, HVAC, sprinkler and stocking inside finished buildings. On paper they are close. The difference shows up in capacity, parts availability and what the machine is worth when you resell it.

Where the Genie wins

  • • 550 lb platform capacity — 50 lb more than the JLG, which matters with two operators and material.
  • • The most common 19 ft lift on US jobsites, so parts and service techs are everywhere.
  • • Strong resale demand; buyers know the model and used units move quickly.

Where the JLG wins

  • • Simple, well-liked control layout and straightforward diagnostics.
  • • Often priced slightly lower on the used market for a comparable year and hours.
  • • If your fleet is already JLG, keeping one brand simplifies parts, chargers and training.

Our recommendation

If this is your first lift, buy the Genie GS-1930: the extra capacity, the parts network and the resale value outweigh a small price difference. If you already run JLG machines, or a well-maintained 1930ES comes up at the right price, it will do the same job. Condition, battery health and service history matter more than the badge — which is why every machine we sell is inspected, load-tested and documented before delivery.
